Look - that's My 78 yr old Aunt Myrtis
honored as Queen of Mardi Gras ! !
at local nursing home in which she resides
My Aunt Myrtis was proudly represented by her family and long time friends as she reigned as Queen of her nursing home this afternoon.
We are so proud of our Aunt Myrtis ! As a resident, she is very involved in all actitivities of the nursing home, - she has even began a beginners sewing bee for some of the ladies ! They quilt and crochet - play games and meet daily for there afternoon tea - They enjoy Southern Gospel Bands that come and play for the residents - including bible study and preaching of God's Word. Lots of her old-time friends are there - - She and her long time friends continue to comfort one another and share with one another.
Queen Aunt Myrtis enjoyed her day
p.s. -
Another reason I LOVE MARDI GRAS - -!!
1. is the fact that Louisiana celebrates it as a holiday -
2. Mardi Gras is followed by "Ash Wednesday" - a religious holiday - -
Good Friday and Easter ALWAYS follows Mardi Gras exactly 6 weeks later.
5. During this 6-week period we will experience the 'delight' of warmer weather - -but with what we as Southerners consider the last cold snap - -
Just a little Note: - - although we will be experiencing warmer weather during the next 6 weeks -- - do not put away your sweaters just yet - we will experience a 'cold snap'. :)
I'm sure yall had a nice day. Wish I was there. Where is the pic of aunt. I cant' see it.
